Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT or Tapping

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as tapping, has been clinically proven to work on both the psychological and physiological aspects of stress and trauma.

It involves the stimulation of specific acupoints on the body while focusing on emotional issues. A practice based in self acceptance has also been scientifically found to deactivate the amygdala (stress centre in the brain) and hippocampus (memory centre).

Recent research into EFT demonstrates that it improved the vagal nerve and creates regulation of the autonomic nervous system.

EFT has also been shown to significantly lower the stress hormone cortisol and influence the genes responsible with stress and immune function.

The benefit of EFT is it is a practice which can be continued by an indivual, work team or family after therapy in times of distress and dys-regulation as well as to achieve positive therapeutic outcomes in school, sport, relationships and career.
