Parkinson’s Law.

The human brain loves a deadline.

Do you have big dreams? Give them an utterly audacious timeframe.

*Dusting my hands*, third and final house flip is done.

Hold up, why is a parenting therapist renovating houses like she’s on ‘The Block’ you ask?

Because the audacious dream is to help as many children as humanly possible (and that takes time, capital and determination).

In August we gave ourselves two weeks to finish renovating, we did it.

We then had a veryyyyy optismitistic sales timeframe… we got offers and sold within 8 weeks.

Finally we moved our family in 3 days to an almost impossible to get beachside home and are almost unpacked. A little bit wild but also very on brand.

Now I can get back to doing what I love most: making a difference in children’s lives.

That’s whats interesting about Parkinson’s Law. When you give yourself unlimited time, tasks can stretch out indefinitely. Give yourself a clear deadline, and you’re forced to get brutally honest about what actually matters.

I didn’t suddenly have more hours in the day. I had a deadline, a clear priority and absolutely no time to spend on things that didn’t matter.

Was it a lot? Absolutely.

Would I recommend renovating, selling and moving house 3 times while having two kids under two and running a business? Ask me after a nap.

But as we head towards the end of 2026, please remember that making a difference doesn’t always require more time. Sometimes it requires deciding what matters, setting a deadline and bravely going for it.

There are children who need support, families who need practical tools, and so much work to do.

I’m ready to get back to it.
